Exactly 30 years after the first Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a leading film company and bringing viewers to iconic figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a brief look into the plot but leaving viewers curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang

In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — getting a brand new toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
